Presentation: 30 Years of JOTA at the Boree Regatta
For the past 30 years, members of the St George Amateur Radio Society (SGARS) have proudly supported the Endeavour Boree Regatta by operating an amateur radio station as part of Jamboree On The Air (JOTA). This annual activity has given generations of Girl Guides and Scouts the opportunity to experience the excitement of communicating with others across Australia and around the world through amateur radio.
To mark this milestone, SGARS will present “30 Years of JOTA at the Boree Regatta” — a look back at the history, highlights, and challenges of three decades of connecting youth through the magic of radio.
What to Expect:
- A retrospective on the first JOTA station at Boree Regatta in 1995
- Memorable highlights and stories from participants and operators
- The challenges faced — and overcome — in bringing international radio to the Regatta
- A celebration of the volunteers who made it possible
This presentation is a chance to reflect on the past, celebrate the achievements, and look ahead to the future of JOTA at the Boree Regatta.
Following from about 7.30 pm in one of the rooms adjoining the bistro, The St George Amateur Radio Society Inc will be holding the gathering and presentation.
