Monthly Meeting and Presentation October 2026

The St. George Amateur Radio Society meets on the first Wednesday of every month, except January, at the Mortdale RSL Club, 25 Macquarie Place, a short walk from Mortdale railway station.

This month's presentation will be "Inside Australia's DMR Network VKDMR, IPSC3, RadNET and the future of connected radio"

The presentation is designed for both digital mobile radio (DMR) beginners and veteran operators, covering:

• DMR Fundamentals: An introductory look at Digital Mobile Radio infrastructure.
• Network Integration: How repeaters, hotspots, talkgroups, and partner networks function collectively.

• Future Developments: A forward-looking look at cellular POC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) radio integration and network expansions into New Zealand.

• VKDMR & IPSC3: Exploration of the transition from IPSC2 to the locally developed IPSC3 core platform, which optimizes live routing decisions, repeater/hotspot tracking, talkgroup scanning, and simplex hotspot handling.

Meetings commence at 7.30 pm and visitors are most welcome. The club has excellent dining facilities and members are encouraged to arrive early for a bite to eat before the gathering.
