A presentation by Peter O'Connell VK2EMU about how a chance remark about wanting to get away to a quiet location for some portal HF operating resulted in the twin adventures of walking the Great North Walk from Sydney to Newcastle and the Hume and Hovell Walking Track from Yass to Albury, a combined total of over 600km.
Peter did some of the walks solo, but others with a variety of walking companions. Hear about working some DX, messages to home and when a 2 metre handheld saved the day. Encounters with a variety of animals and other walkers.
As well as hearing Peter's stories, you can catch up with fellow amateur radio operators, check out the disposal items for a bargain and enjoy tea, coffee, biscuits and cake.
