In May 1971 the St George Amateur Radio Society (SGARS) was founded. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the society, SGARS has a number of on-air and social events planned or being planned. SGARS have now obtained a licence to operate VI50SG as a special event callsign for the rest of the calendar year. Operation will commence immediately on an ‘ad-hoc’ basis. The artwork for a special event QSL card is currently being finalised and will be available for all contacts made. So listen out to the upcoming ANZAC QSO Party, the society’s 2m nets on Thursday evenings and on the society’s repeaters for the callsign on air. Keep an eye on the society’s Facebook page and website for announcements of when operations are taking place. We look forward to your QSO.
